Peer Teaching

Today I want to share a project I made in English Speaking&Listening 3 with my teammates. This project is the third project we made this semester, and is also the last project we have to make. So, once this project is done, I no longer have to worry about this class.

This project is about peer teaching, we have to teach all the classmates in our class a skill or knowledge. Luckily, I’m teamed up with Angela, Chloe, and Bonnie. All of them are trustworthy. However, this project starts with devastating news: we have to teach for 40 minutes. It was such a huge surprise that I really didn’t want to face it.

Angela and Chloe came up with an idea next week. They decided to teach our classmates about “origami”. This is a very interesting topic which enables the students to have a lot of real practice time. We decided to teach them to fold a hat because Christmas is around the corner. We think this would be both fun and memorable if they could have a hat decorated on their own and the whole class could take a picture together. But after our first meeting with the professor, we totally changed our mind. It was quite depressing back then, we had to quit some of our plans to make the class not only interesting but also inspiring.

What’s even worse is that we have to get on stage in the first week which means we don’t have a lot to prepare and modify. We met at the library two times for practice. We set the alarm clock for counting the time we left and tried to make it within the time pressure.

And it’s  finally presentation week. All of us are kinda stressed out, we kept checking about the details and comforted others. I think the whole class enjoyed the opening  little games. When it moved to the introduction part, we were too nervous so we  spoke at a faster speed. For the practice time, I think they enjoyed it a lot. Sometimes, college students are just like kindergarten students, both of them enjoy playing time a lot.

We even held a little paper airplane competition, and had an award ceremony afterwards.I really enjoyed the last part because everyone in the classroom looked so happy. We really did a great job on this project, and I really really thank my teammates. It wouldn’t be the same without them, they made this class end perfectly. Team Gummy won the project this time☆
